Head of player care leyton orient academy
I worked with Ethan towards the beginning of his practice and a few years later. The work we did together has elevated my performance in competition in every way I could have hoped and more.
It has been transformative. Mentally I am far more robust and aware and this in turn has improved my technical practice.
I intend to continue to work with Ethan and develop the tools to improve and enjoy the benefits.

FAQs
How long does a session last?
Sport psychology sessions last 50 minutes. This gives us a good amount of time to figure out what’s going on, work on practical mental skills, and create a plan you can use straight away.
What can I expect from the first session?
The first session is all about getting to know you and understanding your sport. We will:
- Discuss what’s going well and what’s challenging
- Clarify your goals and build your psychological profile
- Create a plan for the first 4–6 sessions
Is it online or in person?
Sessions are online, however If you’re London-based, in-person sessions can also be arranged on request.
What’s the best age to start sport psychology sessions?
Most athletes benefit from sport psychology from around 12 years old and up. That’s usually when training intensifies and competition pressure rises
Does sport psychology help with anxiety?
Yes. Performance anxiety is one of the most common reasons athletes seek support. I use evidence-based tools to help you:
- Understand why anxiety appears
- Control physical symptoms
- Reframe negative thoughts
- Compete with confidence
Is sport psychology the same as therapy?
Not exactly. Sport psychology focuses on performance, mindset, and behaviour in sport. There is overlap, where we will talk about thoughts, feelings, and habits, but sessions are practical, goal-driven, and focused on helping you perform at your best. If deeper therapeutic help is ever needed, I will always help direct you to the right support alongside the work we do.
